Hide & Seek: Intelligence, Law Enforcement, and the Stalled War on Terrorist Finance was named an "Editor's Pick" by the Foreign Policy Association.

I have worked for the U.S. government for 15 years, and still this book was an eye-opener to me. Cassara captures your attention from the very beginning with tales of the Cold War ineptitude of the CIA, and doesn't let up throughout the rest of the book. Unlike most books of this style, however, Cassara offers many suggestions as to how the problems he identifies can be fixed. He's not simply complaining, he's offering solutions. This is a very informative and surprisingly entertaining book and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in how things 'really work.'   Reviewer in Barnes & Noble

As someone who has worked in U.S. law enforcement my whole life, I can tell you that Cassara hits the nail right on the head. Never have I read such a brutally honest account of what it's like to work for the U.S. government. Cassara gives the public a reality check and tells everyone what it's really like to be a spy/special agent. Not only are his personal narratives outstanding (his ability to "paint a picture" is outstanding), his suggestions for improvements to the federal government's current policies are right on. He isn't just another disgruntled government employee, he truly cares about his country and you get the sense that he hopes this book will be of some national service. I would urge anyone, not just government types, to buy and read this book.  Amazon Reviewer

HIDE AND SEEK: INTELLIGENCE, LAW ENFORCEMENT, AND THE STALLED WAR ON TERRORIST FINANCE is a 'must' for any who would understand one of the failures of the U.S. in 9/11. John Cassara is an expert in terrorist financing and money laundering and here surveys the lack of reporting requirements before 9/11, efforts since, and how the failures of law enforcement have helped foster terrorist efforts. HIDE AND SEEK could not have been written without an insider's knowledge of how foreign intelligence, domestic efforts, and international finance works: the fact that John Cassara has such knowledge lends authority and depth to a survey which encourages law to follow the unusual paths of international terrorism's money networks.  Diane C.
